FriendFeed Activity Widget
The FriendFeed Activity Widget is a simple WordPress widget plugin that pulls your FriendFeed stream, pretties it up a bit and shares it with visitors to your blog. It’s essentially a lifestream plugin that requires just a few steps to set up.
What’s it look like? Well, take a look at the sidebar here on my blog. It’s powered entirely by the widget.
Download Latest Version — Compatible with WordPress 2.5+. Requires PHP5 with CURL enabled.
Version History
- 1.1.2 - Hotfix to resolve the Twitter hash tag detection bug.
- 1.1.1 - Hotfix to resolve the pathing issue introduced in the previous release. Fixes the “crazy icons bug.”
- 1.1 - Added grouping and formatting for additional services. Moved styling to an external stylesheet (widget.css). Added date formatting options to widget settings. Added proper HTML encoding for feed links (validate XHTML.) Changed output from UL to DIV structure.
- 1.0.1 - Updated to the latest version of the FriendFeed API framework; Fixes an XHTML formatting error (thanks Nathan), and a potential incompatibility issue with other FriendFeed API-based WordPress plugins.
- 1.0 - May work with versions of WordPress prior to 2.5 (untested!); added template tag friendfeed_activity() for non-widgetized themes.
- 1.0a4 - Fixes the issue with grouped events dropping, and adds grouping of Flickr thumbanils. Note that the thumbnails will link to their full-sized versions rather than the page on your Flickr profile; this is a limitation of the FriendFeed API.
- 1.0a3 - Changed ul#friendfeed to ul#friendfeed-activity to resolve potential compatibility issues. Embedded some default styling into widget output (suggested by bwana). Completely changed the caching system; please delete any cache.dat files from previous versions when upgrading. Changes to options are now reflected instantly, rather than after the next cache update. Added option to limit the amount of events to display; defaults to 10.
- 1.0a2 - Fixes a compatibility issue with Glenn Slaven’s FriendFeed Comments plugin.
- 1.0a1 - First public release; alpha state. This build may be unstable - please let me know about any issues you encounter.

That’s about it. Be sure to share any thoughts and bug reports so I can improve on the project!
