Stuff I Use

Custom 3GHz Wolfdale (2008)
I built my current desktop in February, 2008. It’s got a Gigabyte GA-X38-DS4 running a 3GHz Core 2 Duo E8400 (Wolfdale), 6GB of DDR2 and a total of 600GB between two hard drives. I’m still going strong with my NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, which is hard to believe. It’s a solid performer even today. It’s recently been upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

MacBook Pro (13″, 2009)
I love this laptop, and I never go anywhere without it. It’s got a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo an 4GB of DDR3. It’s currently running Snow Leopard.

We also have a MacBook Air (13″, 2008), Dell M1330 (13″, 2008), Dell XPS Generation 2 (17″, 2004) and a number of older, custom PCs around acting as a servers.

Portables

iPhone 3Gs (2009, 16GB)
The 3GS is my first iPhone, having previously used Blackberry and Palm phones in the past.

iPod Touch (1st Generation, 8GB)
I received my iPod Touch as a Christmas gift in December, 2007. It served me well until I finally nabbed an iPhone. Definitely a gateway device.

Amazon Kindle (1st Generation)
I bought my Kindle from a friend when they decided to upgrade theirs. I always have trouble finding the spare time to pick up a book, but I haven’t had that problem with the Kindle. Probably because I can pick it up at any moment and be right where I left off, and it doesn’t feel like a chore to have to keep tabs on where I left the book. I keep the Kindle with me pretty much all the time.

Canon PowerShot SD870 IS
Decent little point and shoot. 8MP and a wide angle lense. Great for scenery shots and profile/group shots from a small distance. Bad for close-ups. I’ve always been disappointed with it’s video quality, but that wasn’t what I bought it for.

Around the House

PlayStation 3
I picked up my PS3 after my Xbox 360 died for the third time. I love the console, and the built-in Blu-ray is a great bonus. I use a product called Mediamall PlayOn to stream most of my media to it.

Xbox 360 Elite
I’m currently 360-less, but I’ll hopefully grab a replacement soon.

D-Link DGL-4200 and DGL-4500
I’ve been using the DGL-4200 router since 2004. I purchased the 4500 (802.11n router) as a replacement for the 4200, but wasn’t satisfied with its wired network performance and lack of stability. I’m using the 4500 as an access point attached to the 4200, which is handling all the DNS and grunt work.

Apple Airport Extreme and Airport Express
I have a series of older, 802.11g Apple routers strategically placed, primarily so I can make use of the Airport Express’ iTunes integration with the various stereos.

Hewlett Packard Photosmart 3210v (2005)
A pretty solid All-in-One network printer/scanner from HP. It’s starting to develop a few ticks, though, and will probably need to replace it in a year or two. (I received a free unit as part of a external hardware beta test.)
